Today I finally got my tattoo. I’ve been wanting to do this for almost a year now and was always too busy or didn’t have enough money. I got some money this year for Christmas to get it done and decided it was time. This quote comes from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. It’s one of my most favorite books and one of my most favorite authors. It comes from a passage near the end of the book. It goes, “Stuff your eyes with wonder. Live as if you’d drop dead in ten seconds. See the world. It’s more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories.” I love this quote and I love what it means. This world is absolutely incredible and it is there just waiting to be seen. I have always wanted to travel the world, to see as much as I can possibly see. I’m also a photographer so I’m always looking for the next great photo. And this seeing is not just with your eyes. Look at things a little harder and little deeper. Really take the world in. There is so much more to things than what you first see. I can’t put it any better than how Bradbury did. This world really is fantastic.
I just wanted to say thanks to Nick and Hannah for coming along with me. This was my first tattoo, so I was a little nervous. But it all went well and it didn’t hurt too bad. I didn’t pass out or anything. Also thanks to everyone who gave me money so I could get it.
The tattoo was done by Scott at Midwest Tattoo Co. in Indianapolis. It’s a great place and worth checking out.
Because we are on break we have been playing a lot of board games lately. We’ve been playing with Hannah’s family and our friends and it has been a lot of fun. It has been so nice to not have anything to worry about. No work, homework, deadlines, essays or anything. It’s been great to relax and have fun.
Today I went out to use some of the great gift cards that I got as presents. Me and Hannah hit up Half Price and Barnes & Noble and we got some great books. So now these along with the few hundred other books that I have bought I will have plenty to read over the remainder of break and next year.
It seems like it has been a time for firsts recently. Today I went with Hannah to one of her friend’s wedding. It’s the first wedding the me and Hannah have gone to together. It was a really nice wedding and the couple looked extremely happy. We had a good time too and were able to get all dressed up(Hannah looked stunning). It was another good day.
P.S. Today was also Michelle’s birthday and I was unable to see her. So Happy Birthday and I hope you had a great day!
This is Sugar Creek, which runs right behind my mom’s new house. I finally got time to go explore it today. One of the coolest things I found was a beaver den, one of their dams, and a lot of signs of their activity. So that was really cool. The creek is really pretty and I will definitely be spending a lot of time there. It was a fun day of exploring there and a good day overall, despite some people being annoying. I even got to see my aunt who came down to visit, and I to relax after a stressful week and have a nice dinner.
Today was Christmas and it was a good day. I got to see my whole family which was great and as usual celebrated Christmas at my dad’s house and my mom’s house. This Christmas was the first to be celebrated at my mom’s new house, so that was nice. It was also my first Christmas with Hannah so that made it even more special. I love Christmas and even though there is craziness, rushing around, spending, stress, and lots of logistics, it is still my favorite time of the year. This Christmas was weird because it was special but it also came and went too fast and it was more stressful than usual. But it was still good.
Merry Christmas everyone!
P.S. Hannah dyed her hair purple for anyone who was wondering.
I don’t have a picture for today. Today was spent celebrating Christmas with Hannah and her family. It was a great day, with great people, great presents and great food. I had a lot of fun and it was the beginning of the first Christmas that me and Hannah have celebrated together.
This is our attempt at a gingerbread house. Hannah, Hillary, Josh and I attempted to construct one and it was hilarious. We went through a lot of icing, one of the walls cracked, candy was everywhere, things fell apart and the roof was supported by toothpicks and pretzels. But it turned out alright and it was fun making it. The best part was that it was still standing the next morning.
Tonight I went with Hannah, Hillary and Josh to Christmas at the Zoo. I hadn’t ever been so it was really cool to go see. The lights were beautiful and it was impressive how many of them there were. The whole zoo was lit up and decorated. I had a lot of fun and I was with great people. It’s definitely something I’d do again.
Today was Nick’s birthday and he turned 30 years old. In my mind it’s kind of crazy to think he’s 30 now. He doesn’t seem 30 and I still think he’s like twenty-five half of the time. I remember still hanging out with him, playing Need for Speed, and him telling ridiculous stories when he lived at home. It is crazy how fast time goes by and people grow older. How the years add up with countless memories and new experiences. But there are many more years to look forward to and lots of things to do and Nick is headed towards great things and I can say I’m proud to have him as my brother.
