BrandyDay290: A Road Without A Fork Is Guaranteed To Have A Few Curves

image

Alicia and I headed south to Nashville Indiana to get away, check out the fall colors & go horseback riding.  We had no obligations until Monday afternoon.  It was Saturday.  When you get two best friends, a camera, untraveled roads and free time, well only good things can happen 🙂  Alicia (nicknamed T) has been every bit of a supportive best friend.  I look forward to our adventures and time together.  This weekend is sure to do our hearts some good!!!  We never know what lies ahead, and looking back can cause you to miss the direction you should be headed.

I shot this on some no name road, between here and there while on a ‘bathroom’ stop.  Indiana is beautiful this time of year!!! (Fall time, that is)

Brandy Day288: Anywhere But Here

image

This photo reminds me of my cross country road trip.  The endless open, like the ocean.  The quiet thoughts while driving during sunset.  I enjoyed being on the road.  I had more of a feeling of ‘having everything’ than I do now. Going from place to place, no agenda, no destination.  Some days I’d give anything to be out there again.  Truly living life in such a way of simplicity.

Brandy Day280: Human Sinkhole

image

Today wasn’t easy. Maybe its the weather, I feel like I’m lost in Seattle. However the sun has set so I cannot complain. Rain through the day makes for long ones & hyper dogs.
Driving for sunset accepting I may not see much of one, this reflection caught me. Flooding the hole in the middle of the road, deceiving those that pass through, painting that which surrounds it, catching true colors.
Oddly enough I stopped, got out of my truck and stood there,  ‘reflecting’ on recent days, prior to taking this photo. The beauty captured reflected so much.

Brandy Day279: Selfish Selfie….

image

Standing on this back road. Alive. Happy. Full of feeling and life. The light of the sun highlighting naturally.
Never knowing when your happiness will be ripped from your heart, you be sure and ‘live’.
Dont be afraid of happiness, it has to start somewhere and its an amazing feeling. One you must experience in order to feel hurt, pain. Enjoy the simple things in life, one day that may be all you have.

Brandy Day275: Sweet Smell of Heaven..

image

Backed up to the pond. Midnight rolls around with a storm trailing behind it. Somehow that doesn’t matter. The back is open, windows down, the music on & I’m in heaven. I’ve never experienced something so peaceful.
The sweet smell of the country air. The silence of the night and the soothing splash of the water against the rocks. At that moment there was no other place I wanted to be.

Brandy Day268: Fly Over States

image

I want to give a huge shout to all the farmers!! Thank you!! The hours you put in, the physical labor you do. We don’t see all that is put into making sure there is successful crop & livestock growth for food and raw materials.
I’ve always enjoyed living in the country. The smell, the farms, the old barns, the cattle & horses. I love when the farmers harvest the fields this time of year! The smell of fresh soil, beans & corn.
The bulk of corn that is produced today is not for food production but more everyday items such as plastic, batteries, cosmetics, cough syrup & diapers to name a few. Most soybeans are processed for their oil as well as protein for the livestock feed industry, however they are also used for human consumption.
Next time you find yourself pissed off behind a tractor or semi, perhaps you should wave in thanks for all they do rather than speeding by in frustration.

Brandy Day264: Surf City Sunset

image

Headed south today to Wilmington, to visit with KCs parents and their new puppy, Star.
Not a bad drive, 4.5 hours from Outer Banks. No interstates just back roads and a long phone conversation.
Surf City is about 15mins from KCs house. There is a beautiful park with boardwalks, fishing, park and people. I caught this beautiful sunset before arriving at a place that seems more like home every time I visit!

Brandy Day240: Forgotten Love

image

There is a home that has stood vacant for years. It’s slightly overgrown with weeds, the wood is weathered & some of the windows are broken out. A few months ago I drove by and noticed two blacks labs in the pinned in back area, though the house still sat ‘for sale’. Concerned for them, I went back this evening checking to see if they were still there. They were. I immediately contacted the number listed and spoke with the homeowner. He explained he couldn’t have then where he currently lived & that he feeds them twice a day and they were available for adoption.
My heart broke for them. I look at my two and how happy they are and how happy they make me. That is their job, to love & nurture. To keep me happy & laughing. These two dogs who have been ‘forgotten’ about, who sit outside alone every evening. Hoping their owner comes back to feed them again.
I contacted a friend about helping me remove them and take them to a shelter. Hopefully we can make this happen. Soon. They would be adopted immediately and hopefully into a loving home, where they can do why they do best. Love.

Brandy Day237: Puppy Persistence

image

Oliver thought I should wake up at 6am today. I thought Oliver was crazy and with his persistence I was up and putting shoes on at 630. I was out the door, driving in the warm morning air. The sky started to lighten and the fog that had set in hours before, began to lift from its short slumber.  The country promised such soft contrast.
Thank you for your puppy persistence Oliver, sunrise was stunning.
