The great palette of blues, whites and grey is another benefit of winter. Unlike a lot of people I usually like winter. Now, I have my limits and I don’t like the freezing, bitter cold that Indiana can get, but overall winter is a great time. I like the cold better than the heat anyway. And the photos can be great during the winter. So I was excited when I was treated early to the ice, reflections and blue skies in the photo above.
I went out to take some photos today and I got some good ones but I also froze in the process. As I was finishing up and quickly walking back to Clare, I turned and looked at Allison Mansion. It is a beautiful mansion here on campus and today it looked even more beautiful in the snow and afternoon light. I took a quick shot and came out with this.
Another beautiful morning in the Ecolab. I was actually in class when I got to take this shot. We were told to go take pictures of the fall colors and do portraits. I just focused on the colors and ended up modeling for the portraits and helping some other people get their shots. It was a good morning for shooting, though it was a little cold.
Indy has a beautiful canal that goes right through downtown. It can make for a beautiful walk along some of the sections and it certainly makes for good pictures. This particular spot goes through the IMA property and it stood out beautifully today.
Somethin’ bout an Indiana summer night after a storm. Absolutely beautiful!! Everything on the ground is so green and everything above is so blue. Fresh & vibrant. Naturally washed of the days dirt.
This photo was taken in the eastern sky as the sun set opposite of it.
Time goes by rather quickly. It seems not that long ago that Summer started and it was going to be a long time before I went back to school. And now Summer is coming quickly to a close for me and I’ll be moving back to college soon. I’m excited though and I’m ready for new adventures and I’m ready to learn some new things. But we all should appreciate our little bit of time here.
On our date today we found this sculpture that was made up of hundreds of little blue plastic squares like this one that each had something written on them. Some were stupid, many were cliche, a few were funny, some made you think and then this one made me stop and take a picture. It reads “You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.” This quote is wonderfully true, at least for me. She really is better than dreams. And there have been so many times where we work to stay awake just so we can be together.
Today it stormed. And it stormed a lot. It’s fun to watch these storms roll in and then unleash all their pent up energy and roll out. They are powerful incredible things. They bring rain and lightening and winds. They are necessary and healthy and dangerous all at the same time.
It was one of those days. Good and bad mixed together. It was hard to say whether it was a good day or a bad day. Lots of shit on my mind. School, work, money, bills, life. But also the sky, a book, the corn, Her, fireworks, and laughter. I read a book by my favorite author and was happy and an hour later some thoughts that I wish I didn’t have, but I do have, creeped in again and darkened everything. Things I know I shouldn’t think, but I do anyway. I don’t think I can help it. It’s just me. These days come and go though. The day passes and you simply wish that tomorrow will have more good and less bad.
