For my photo assignment this weekend I was told to take photos of my dad. I knew this would be hard because neither of my parents enjoy having their photos taken and they don’t cooperate very well. But I had to take the photos. This was the best one that I could get, which wasn’t very satisfying. Hopefully I will get a better portrait of him soon though. But it is interesting to see how people react to their photo being taken. Some love it and they know how to make a great picture. Because a good portrait is not made by just the photographer. Others don’t like it so much but they can make for wonderful photos too. Others hate it and some people are very hard to make good photos of. People are challenging but they certainly are worth it.
Our paths in life are subject to change. Nothing is settled or for sure in this world. Things change constantly. We grow, rethink things, change our direction, follow new dreams, have new hopes, strive for new goals. This is life. My life is full of change, but I accept all the changes, good and bad. I continue on through challenges that have arisen, dream new dreams and work towards a new goal.
Some days are just filled with ups and downs. Arguments and bad feelings and then talking and back to normal. Rain and storms and then clarity. Life is full of ups and downs. Highs and lows. Actions and reactions. While the lows suck and they can be miserable I think they are important. I’d go so far as to say they are necessary. We need them to learn. I know I have learned the most about myself when I am at my lowest. I learned today the damage that can be done from shutting down and not letting anyone in on how you feel.
Watching the sun melt on a back country road with the sweet smell of corn and freshly turned soil.
Most don’t understand the satisfaction or the comfort I get when doing this. Nothing but freedom. You can keep your thoughts or go empty minded. There is too much to focus on when you have time and open roads.
I challenge you to try this one evening. Find some country roads, roll the windows down, get your favorite jams going and just drive.
