So for my photography class we had to do a final project. I decided to do something that was a little challenging to shoot and was logistically impossible. Shoot portraits and various groupings of my whole immediate family at the same time all in one place. Some how the stars aligned and everyone was actually able to get together on the same day, at the same time, so I could shoot photos of them. This was the first and most likely the last that all of the people above have been in the same room together. But it worked and I got great shots of them all and everything turned out how I wanted it to and it wasn’t complete chaos. So thank you guys so much for taking the time to get together and get along with each other so I could get pictures of you all. Don’t worry you will be able to see the pictures soon.
P.S. Unfortunately the professor did not like the photos and complained about the lighting (which he set up himself), but I don’t care because I loved the photos and you guys were great!
So today was interesting to say the least. It started off nice as some of my classes were canceled. I took one of the easiest Survey tests I have taken and then I got to go on a great date with Hannah. We went to the Georgia O’Keeffe exhibit at the IMA which was very nice and then we went out to dinner. I got to relax for a while and then I went to help a friend with a photography assignment. We had to practically move the studio to another building to set up her shot. In the middle of it though things took a different direction. I got a text saying Hannah was going to hospital with her parents. Which scared me to death. So I ran across campus and went to the hospital with her. It was an issue with her bleeding disorder and we had to go to the ER. For an emergency room they were quite slow and we didn’t leave until almost 3 a.m. In the middle of it all there were also shooter on the loose running around in the area of the hospital. It was a crazy day. It was scary too. I know it’s cliché, but you really find out how much you love someone in situations like this. Getting that text was one of the scariest things I got. I immediately started shaking. It luckily ended up not being anything all that serious, but still it was scary. You realize how important that person is. It was awful waiting and wondering what was going on. It was great to get out of there, knowing she was safe and okay.
A change in the weather. Some gnarly clouds rolled through tonight. Thunderstorms remind me of so much. I love the smell of rain, the roll of thunder, the surprise of lightning, the ominous look the clouds hold and the breathe taking sky it creates after the madness. It is all simply so easing and beautiful.
Every year deadly storms rip through small towns or big cities. Lives are randomly chosen and lost. For those, we remember.
Shot over Giest Reservoir after the storm.
Oh Ben…..he’s so handsome. Yet a pain in the ass. I love him so much as I adopted him almost a year after Jordan passed, on Jordan’s first birthday without us.
His name was Desoto at the Humane Society. I changed it to Ben for unknown reasons, though I have to clarify Ben is my cat and NOT a guy when telling stories. He had been there for a bit prior to me adopting him. I had NO clue what I was getting myself into. They say ‘all black’ cats have the most personality. Truth. He goes out with the dogs. He’s as smart as a human and knows it. When people come to my house I have to warn them about my cat, not the two dogs. All in all though he is great and I couldn’t imagine not having his punk-ness around.
