Today I went along with Frau Westphal and the entire German class at Marian to go meet Archduke Markus Salvator von Habsburg-Lothringen and Archduchess Hildegarde Habsburg-Lothringen. He is descended from Emperor Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. They were visiting Indianapolis and then going to Ferdinand, named after his ancestor,in southern Indiana. It was pretty cool getting to meet them and shake their hands. They were very nice and Markus gave a little talk about himself and his family and home. Needless to say it is something I won’t forget and not everyone gets to say they got to meet royalty, let alone royalty from one of the most powerful royal families in the world.
Today I have my first chapter test in German and it’s time to study. I’m not great at German, but I’m slowly learning and hoping to become fluent in it one of these days. This is one of my classes that I have put some of the most effort and time into to try to actually learn something. Hopefully this test goes well.
Tonight I spent some time tying to refresh my German. I’ll be back in German classes in a few weeks and I don’t want to be completely lost. I like reading it though. I like gaining this skill, this language. I can’t wait till the day that I’m fluent in it and it just comes naturally. Until then, I’ll keep reading through this vocab book.
