Chandler Day 293: Sea Oats

DSC05867It is amazing how diverse the flora and fauna truly is. All it takes is a closer look. Having worked in the Ecolab with a Restoration Ecologist for only a few weeks, it is amazing how much I am learning and seeing. There are so many plants, trees and insects that I would have never noticed if they hadn’t been pointed out. For example this little plant, which is called Northern Sea Oats. It is fairly small and easily overlooked, but it is so pretty. In the fall they are full of different colors from green, to yellow, to this maroon color. This world and the things that inhabit it are incredibly wonderful. So take a closer look next time you are out and about.

Chandler Day 292: A Mini Waterfall

DSC05907So this little, mini waterfall isn’t actually in the Ecolab. It is in an adjoining property that I found a while back and now explore from time to time. I think Brandy may have also shot this waterfall at one point. I walked past it today and I looked so pretty, so I stopped and got a few photos, trying to get a decent picture without my tripod.

Chandler Day 290: Looks Like Midsummer

DSC05890Another day of shooting for the Ecolab and there are so many wildflowers still blooming. I came up on this patch of what I think is Swamp Aster (I could be wrong, I’m very new to learning the plants) and found it full of bumblebees. They were buzzing along like it was summer and not late mid October. Of course I had to stop and get a few shots of them.

Chandler Day 289: Time for Work

DSC05873Today I got to take more picture for work. My boss is out of town, so I was told to shoot for the Ecolab. It’s nice ending the day with a walk through the Ecolab, taking pictures of beautiful flowers and getting paid.

Chandler Day 288: Getting Paid to Shoot Pretty Little Flowers

DSC05860Today I got to shoot photos in the Ecolab for work. This is pretty cool, because it’s the first time I have gotten paid to walk around and take photos. I documented a lot of flowers and seed pods throughout the Ecolab and focused on some of the great fall colors that are starting to appear. And I got a few fun fun shots like this one that I thought were pretty.

Chandler Day 285: Welcome to Danville

DSC05740Today Brandy and KC’s movie,  The Chronicles of a Dead Man, was playing in the Indy Film Fest in Danville, which is Hannah’s hometown. So we got to show Brandy around Danville and get some pretty fun shots at the Twin Bridges. I also got to see Nick, Mary, Mom, Abbie and Hannah’s family too. It was a really fun day overall with family, good short films and some good shots.

Chandler Day 282: Center of Attention

DSC05640Like I said, there are some amazing things around us. On my way to class I noticed this blazing orange and red tree down an alley of still green trees. I almost walked right past it, but the tree made itself the center of attention. I had to stop and stand in the middle of the road to snap this photo.
