Chandler Day 365: Beginnings and Endings

DSC06973What a year.

This year has been a full one. There has been a lot of great moments and some not so great ones. There has been a lot of change. I fell crazy deep in love with a wonderful person. I finished my freshman year of college and moved into my sophomore year. I had a ton of new experiences like going to Gary for the first time, riding a Ferris Wheel, getting fired from a job, getting in a car accident, getting pulled over for the first time, running into a Sheriff because I was trespassing (he was very nice), getting my first tattoo, smoking for the first time, changing my major and my first car died in the parking lot of a gas station. I did a lot of exploring, driving, thinking and saw a lot of new places. I made my first road trip and I saw the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I got over some really rough thoughts and decided that living was better than dying. I got better at taking photos and also decided that photography was not what I wanted to do for a living. I met new people, including Austrian royalty, and made some new friends. I switched jobs a few times and learned a lot about work and how it plays into life. My mom moved and we said goodbye to a house that had been home for nearly seven years. I read a lot and wrote a lot. I wrote some good stuff and some not so good stuff. I got some good grades and some bad ones. I got into arguments and got a lot better at saying sorry and making up. I learned a lot about myself and how I work. I learned how to express myself, how to deal with some of my issues, how to apologize, how to stand up for myself, and how to listen. Like I said it has been a year of change, growth and new experiences. I sit here and look forward to another year of new experiences, new places, and new people. I see a year of challenges, new memories to be made and new things to discover not only about the world but about myself. This challenge has been a good one. It has definitely been a challenge. I have loved it and hated it. Now it’s finished and I’m glad I did it and finished it. So here’s to a great year filled with great times and great challenges.

Chandler Day 363: Lots of Games

gamesBecause we are on break we have been playing a lot of board games lately. We’ve been playing with Hannah’s family and our friends and it has been a lot of fun. It has been so nice to not have anything to worry about. No work, homework, deadlines, essays or anything. It’s been great to relax and have fun.

Chandler Day 360: Sugar Creek

DSC06957This is Sugar Creek, which runs right behind my mom’s new house. I finally got time to go explore it today. One of the coolest things I found was a beaver den, one of their dams, and a lot of signs of their activity. So that was really cool. The creek is really pretty and I will definitely be spending a lot of time there. It was a fun day of exploring there and a good day overall, despite some people being annoying. I even got to see my aunt who came down to visit, and I to relax after a stressful week and have a nice dinner.

Chandler Day 359: Merry Christmas!

xmasToday was Christmas and it was a good day. I got to see my whole family which was great and as usual celebrated Christmas at my dad’s house and my mom’s house. This Christmas was the first to be celebrated at my mom’s new house, so that was nice. It was also my first Christmas with Hannah so that made it even more special. I love Christmas and even though there is craziness, rushing around, spending, stress, and lots of logistics, it is still my favorite time of the year. This Christmas was weird because it was special but it also came and went too fast and it was more stressful than usual. But it was still good.

Merry Christmas everyone!

P.S. Hannah dyed her hair purple for anyone who was wondering.

Chandler Day 357: We Tried

gbreadThis is our attempt at a gingerbread house. Hannah, Hillary, Josh and I attempted to construct one and it was hilarious. We went through a lot of icing, one of the walls cracked, candy was everywhere, things fell apart and the roof was supported by toothpicks and pretzels. But it turned out alright and it was fun making it. The best part was that it was still standing the next morning.

Chandler Day 355: You’re How Old Now?

DSC06695Today was Nick’s birthday and he turned 30 years old. In my mind it’s kind of crazy to think he’s 30 now. He doesn’t seem 30 and I still think he’s like twenty-five half of the time. I remember still hanging out with him, playing Need for Speed, and him telling ridiculous stories when he lived at home. It is crazy how fast time goes by and people grow older. How the years add up with countless memories and new experiences. But there are many more years to look forward to and lots of things to do and Nick is headed towards great things and I can say I’m proud to have him as my brother.

Happy Birthday Nick!

Chandler Day 344: What a Pretty Tree

DSC06944Today we decorated the Christmas tree at my mom’s house. This tree was kind of special, as it was the first tree in the new house, it was the first real tree that Hannah had gone to cut down and it was the first tree that we decorated together. We also strung popcorn that night, which was another first for Hannah. I had a lot of fun and it was nice sharing these traditions with her. The tree turned out beautiful and I think a great Christmas is in store for the new house.

Chandler Day 343: Autumn & Kaleb

DSC 25This is Autumn and Kaleb, Dustin and Jennifer’s daughter and son. Autumn was the first grandchild in the family and the first niece. I had become an uncle and it was fun having new people in the family. I remember holding both of them in the hospitals, excited to have a niece and a nephew. It has been fun watching them grow up and it is incredible that they are this big already. They are both very smart kids. They are very ornery and funny (I wonder who they get if from), and they are great kids. I love the both of them and I can’t wait to see what they grow up to be.

Chandler Day 342: Abbigail

DSC 9This is Abbigail, my little sister. Me and Abbie have always been close. We’re best friends. We’ve grown up together and gone through everything together. I remember waiting in the hospital for her to be born, excited to have another sibling. She’s still my baby sister, even though she’s in high school now. We’ve had a lot of great times together and also have been through a lot of shit together. We certainly don’t always agree and boy, have we had some arguments, but we always make up a few minutes later and are back to having a good time. Abbie is wonderfully talented, hilarious, and incredibly smart young lady who is growing up to be strong and beautiful. She’s gonna go places and I’m excited to see what else we will go through. I love her and I’m so glad you are my sister.

Chandler Day 341: Nicholas

DSC 8This is Nick, my brother. Nick has always been a great brother to me. He always seems to be there for me when I need him the most. Oftentimes I don’t think I need to talk to him, but he’ll call me up and what he has to say is just right. Nick is hilarious and has always made me laugh with his stories and jokes. He’s a goofball. He’s caring, smart, hard-working, strong, sensitive, funny, loyal, a great brother, a great friend and a great man. I love him and I’m glad that he is my brother.
