Today was kind of a weird day. It was Thanksgiving and my dad’s birthday. It was also the first year that I have celebrated it with my girlfriend and her family, which was very nice. It was also the same year that mom did not cook a proper Thanksgiving dinner, because she had just moved. I actually was unable to have dinner with her. We had dessert instead. It was unusual and the traditions weren’t kept and things felt out of place. But things change and we must change with them.
Today has been a little hectic to say the least. We have a print assignment for photography that requires us to print 1-3 photos inspired by Vivian Maier, Sally Mann, or Diane Arbus, none of which did I find that inspiring. Printing the photos adds a whole new challenge and a short time frame does not help. On top of this I spent two hours today helping Hannah with her camera which decided to stop working. So tonight I was in a rush to get photos. I walked all over downtown and came across this. This open Chinese restaurant devoid of life except the two employees, like the rest of the town tonight. Tomorrow will be interesting when I turn my work in.
So we went to dinner for Bob Evans today. I’ve always liked the place as my family used to eat there on Sunday mornings all the time. But Hannah wasn’t sure if she had ever been, which was weird, because who hasn’t been? And as she looked over the menu she only got more excited about it. It was pretty funny to watch her and how excited she was. And then she ordered these magnificent pancakes. They tasted pretty amazing and Hannah proceeded to say “Bob Evans blew my mind”, which was something I’d never think I’d hear.
Today Hannah told me to meet her at a park after I got off work. So I made my way to the park and then she arrived and told me she had a surprise. She set up the best little picnic for us. Basket, blanket, flowers, even a candle. We set up in the shade and ate some great food that she got and enjoyed the weather and the birds and each other. It was perfect and one of the cutest things she’s done.
I love breakfast food!! Its always been one of my favorites, which is good cause they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Lately though, when I wake I’m starving but after I’ve made food I’m no longer interested 😦 This morning after I cooked, I was able to choke down some eggs and hash browns. I hope this doesn’t continue on much longer. It saddens me not to crave some of my favorite things!
As a child I was often ‘required’ to help in the garden. Somehow I always got stuck in the green bean row. Weeding and picking the beans. It was unreal how many beans could grow in a number of rows. Then, snapping them, at each end. However, fresh green beans are so crisp and delicious!!!! Mom was kind enough to bring me a bag of pre snapped fresh green beans! <3!
It’s not Summer if you don’t go to a county fair. At least that’show it is here in Indiana. This year I went to the Hendricks County Fair with Hannah and Cassie. It was a little weird this year because it was actually kind of chilly outside instead of being 98 outside. But it was a lot of fun. We walked all around, did some people watching, watched baby pigs race, ate fair food, and saw all the animals (the majority of the time spent in the goat barn).
Today was another good day. I thought it was just going to be a normal day, but Hannah and my family planned otherwise. Hannah got me out of the house for a bit while my sister and step-mom decorated and Hannah’s family came out. Hannah stalled me by getting in an argument with me and when I got back to the house I was completely surprised to see everything done up and her family there. It was a great night spent with everyone and a lot of fun.
Today was my birthday and it was a pretty great one. I got to spend the day with my wonderful girlfriend Hannah, who went to a lot of effort to make sure I had fun. She got me this awesome Polaroid and made cupcakes for me (which were amazingly good). We then got to visit the IMA, a camera store, a bookstore, Potbelly(amazing as usual), and Mass. Ave. It was a great day and a lot of fun. We saw some cool stuff and met some cool people.
