It snowed today! It isn’t the first day of snow, but today the snow actually stuck and stayed around. It snowed lightly, but consistently almost all day. It was very pretty to watch it and I honestly don’t mind the snow. I love snow. I just don’t care for how cold it is. Oh well, that’s winter here in Indiana. I think Peanut even liked the snow.
Because Hannah had to take it easy this weekend and her medicine made her tired we just relaxed at home. It was a lazy weekend but we got to see our cats, MJ is the one in the photo, and she baked some pretty great cookies. It’s never been hard for me to relax and be lazy but for some it can be. It was a good thing that she was forced to just relax and take things slow. Everyone needs that. Time to rest and take a break from things.
So today was homecoming at Marian and I had every intention of taking photos of everything that was going on. I was even going to use them in my class. But then I got distracted talking with Hannah’s family and other Hannah and Heath. And then my mom showed up with food and I told she could bring the Sampson, not really thinking that all the way through. Not the best idea bringing a hyped up, 135 lb. St. Bernard to campus on one of the most crowded days. But it was okay. He behaved really well and had a lot of fun, especially since he got a lot of attention. And it was a good day and I had a lot of fun. But this was the only photo I took. So there you go.
Today I went back home for a little bit and visited with my family and the pets, including Shae. It was kind of odd being there knowing we wouldn’t be at this place for much longer. So I went out to the pasture and spent some time with Shae. It’s always been one of my favorite places to be there. I gave her some treats, which she obviously enjoyed and petted her. Shae has always been a great pet, always wanting to be loved and get treats and she will just stand there listening to you and rub her head on you.
This is Hemi (after Hemingway, not the engine). She’s part border-collie, part lab. Or at least that’s what we think she is. She’s a rescue dog that Hillary (Hannah’s sister) and Josh (Hillary’s boyfriend) adopted. She’s a sweet little dog, and still very puppy. She’s very playful and can be a little shit at times. For now she’s staying with Hillary, while Josh is in Colorado and it’s been fun playing with her. Today she let me take her picture.
This is Sampson. Our 135 lb. St. Bernard. He’s a little over three years old, but he still acts like a puppy. A very big puppy. He’s a big, goofy dog, with a lot of personality. I’ve never had a dog quite like this. He’s very ornery and stubborn and loud. But he’s a good guard dog and very playful. He can be annoying at times, but it’s hard to stay mad at him with his cute face.
This is Peanut, Hannah’s British Short Hair cat. He’s a very cute cat, though he tends to stay away from people. Since I’ve been around him so much, he has started to tolerate me and now lets me pet him. I snapped this shot of him this morning, in one of his favorite spots, as he looked out the window.
Oh Ben…..he’s so handsome. Yet a pain in the ass. I love him so much as I adopted him almost a year after Jordan passed, on Jordan’s first birthday without us.
His name was Desoto at the Humane Society. I changed it to Ben for unknown reasons, though I have to clarify Ben is my cat and NOT a guy when telling stories. He had been there for a bit prior to me adopting him. I had NO clue what I was getting myself into. They say ‘all black’ cats have the most personality. Truth. He goes out with the dogs. He’s as smart as a human and knows it. When people come to my house I have to warn them about my cat, not the two dogs. All in all though he is great and I couldn’t imagine not having his punk-ness around.
This is Baby, or Felix. His real name is Felix, but Hannah and I don’t like the name so we just call him Baby. He’s sweet but he can be a little devil too. Hannah loves the little guy though. We decided to take him outside for a little bit to enjoy the nice weather. He sat there nicely in Hannah’s lap for maybe a minute and then started squirming and trying to escape. She calmed him down and then he proceeded to give her kisses on the nose. It was pretty cute.
This is Felix. He is our new baby kitten at my Dad’s house. He’s only 8 weeks old. He’s an adorable little guy and a very ornery little kitten. I got to see him for the first time tonight. He was pretty fun to play with and it was definitely a challenge when I decided I wanted to shoot him for today’s picture. This guy would not stand or sit still and even my 12f/s shutter was having a hard time keeping up with him. Eventually I got this shot as he sat still for a second before attacking our other cat MJ, who was not pleased. He’s a little upset that he’s not the center of attention right now, though he doesn’t mind the little guy too much. I think they’ll get along and Felix will end up being a good cat.
