Brandy Day339: Kelly2

image

This photo seems like a good place to start. My apologies for being absent and not following through with a commitment.  Life is pretty good at throwing struggles at you and watching you fail. Kelly for example, I introduced him at the first if the year. A man who changed my day and I spoke of many times this year, sharing his struggles and the way he affected me.  Unbeknownst to me, Kelly and I had a connection. Rebecca, a good friend of mine whom I’ve known for years, works alongside the police and city to help the homeless. She does so much for them, I don’t know where to begin. I can end with, this is Kelly in his new apartment. Yes. Rebecca got him off the streets and housed. When she text me this photo today, my life changed. It was in the middle of a shit week, where I thought, “Seriously?! Anything else?” Yes, there was something else. Something good. I’ve said no more than ten words to a gentleman whose had a year of impact on me. This is humanity. Thank you, not only to Rebecca, The Pour House, but all those who donate items, time & compassion to help others have faith in a world where faith has been forgotten, like so many on the streets. I simply ask, the next time you want to clean out your closets and head to GoodWill for that extra $30, donate those items to a local organization that helps directly with those lost & forgotten. Spend an extra $5-$10 at the grocery on dry goods for someone in need.

*SideNote: I have photos, I have words I know I owe you 🙂 Thank you for your continued support!

Brandy Day266: Paw Prints On Our Hearts

image

We all know how I feel about my puppies. I think I speak for all ‘dog parents’, they are our world. They are not our ‘dogs’, they are out kids. We treat them as such, love them as such, talk to them (they understand us) and spoil them in such a way that non dog owners think ‘we’ are insane. A girlfriend of mine jumped on the dog bandwagon about 5 months ago. Not that long ago she looks at me and says, ‘B I get it.’ I was confused, ‘Get what?!’ ‘I get the love & loyalty. I get the happiness and joy. I get ‘hype’ of loving a dog.’ I could only smile and nod in response.
Yes, puppy stages are rough. The training, the frustration, the energy. Yes they track mud and dirt through out the house. Hair is always on something, & cleaning up after them is never ending. They can be expensive, they can’t tell you what’s wrong when there is an issue. Though the moment they make you laugh, remember what you’ve taught them, curl up beside you, lay at your feet in peace & vow to never leave your side when you need them the most, those are the moment you realize why you wouldn’t have it any other way

Brandy Day262: Turtley Enough For The Turtle Club

image

To describe today….there aren’t words….I could only hope what happened today will eventually be normal for me,  always a natural high.
After shooting sunrise, I headed up to Cape Hatteras to grab some shots of the lighthouse. After I was finished, I wandered across the way to the beach.  I noticed some people standing around a roped off area with signs announcing the sea turtle nest just beyond the rope. I chatted with the people there, to find out they were excavating that nest shortly! As they began to dig up the nest, they sat aside the eggs to count and track. 75 total, 15 unhatched & 1still hanging out in the nest, the rest, well hopefully they made it to sea. The remaining one was taken back to be checked out and released later. I stood and chatted with the rangers, finding out very helpful & useful information. I gave them my contact information, and was invited back this evening to watch them release 35 baby turtles (including the one from this morning) into the wild ocean.
What an amazing event. You almost felt proud to be part of something so awesome. Hoping the best for these babies in such an aggressive world.
This is me. This is what I want to do. <3!!

Chandler Day 126: Abbigail

DSC02816Tonight I got to see my my little sister, Abbie, perform in her showcase. I originally thought I wouldn’t be able to make it to see her, but I went to great lengths to make sure I could be there. She was in a group that did several a capella songs. Abbie has a beautiful voice, that she puts to good use in a choir and her CYT group. She also has a knack for acting and it’s been very fun watching her act and perform. She is very talented and I am so proud of her. It’s been kind of weird watching her grow up and I still can’t believe she’s in high school. She’ll always be my baby sister. But she’s growing up to be a beautiful, talented and amazing young woman.

Brandy Day110: Monkeys Not Bunnies On Easter

Happy Easter!
This is my beautiful sister Abigail! I’ll never forget the day my parents told me they were pregnant with her. My response was, “Well, I’m daddy’s little girl, so I hope its a boy.” Nine months later in the delivery room the Dr congratulated our family with a little girl. I started balling. My dad hugged me and said I’d always be his little girl (we all know Abbie is his favorite 😉 ) So its stuck, which one of us is the favorite daughter, we go back and forth often with it.
In our crazy family and this crazy world, she’s had to find herself. She’s done a beautiful job of it.
I’m so proud of you Monkey! Your an amazingly beautiful woman.
