Chandler Day 352: Long-Forgotten Pathways

DSC00326Indiana is called the Crossroads of America. Highways and railways cut through the state and can be found everywhere. Railways have declined over the years and now that state is left with this. Tall embankments where railroads once were. Now they are paths through woods with the occasional reminder that machines once passed through. Railroad ties, bits of coal, markers, broken up bridges, even graves, all mark these forgotten railways.

Chandler Day 351: Another Favorite

DSC00293It has been kind of fun looking through my old photos as I begin to wrap up this project. I found this one tonight and I think this particular house has shown up before in these posts. But the house is a favorite and if you ask why, I wouldn’t be able to tell you. I think it might be the location of it, as it’s on a favorite road of mine and the area is pretty. I have never been in this house and it holds a certain mystery to it. I don’t know if I’ll ever go inside it, but the place is pretty and it will always be a favorite.

Chandler Day 348: Wishing for Snow

DSC00214So the weather has not been the greatest this December. It hasn’t been that cold, but it has been very gloomy and rainy. It certainly isn’t the best Christmas weather. But I came across this photo that I took last summer. It was one of the first photos with my new camera. The snow that day was beautiful. Hopefully we will get some of this weather soon.

Chandler Day 347: Milledgeville

SONY DSCAlong one of the roads that I have traveled on too many times to count is the tiny little village of Milledgeville. There really isn’t much of anything there except from a few houses, a church and the old grocery and gas station, which is no longer open. But the building seems to have been frozen in time. A little piece of the past. One of the gas pumps even has the last fill up and price still on it.

Brandy Day278: Migraine Lousy

image

Rainy Sunday. Lousy migraine. No photos today. Slept more than most of the day.
This photo was taken out west atop some train tracks, looking down. I love the shot. I love the view. So peaceful. So soothing.
Enjoy the view & hope for a better tomorrow ❤

Brandy Day274: Burned Memories

image

Down a road I’ve traveled but a few times, I found the remaining structure of what was once a home.  Burned down to only its frame. Charred on the sides burning all but the boards & memories. What happened here? Who was affected? Was anyone lost or hurt? What now, for those that have lost? Fire is devastating, possibly runing forever anything that stands in its way.
This photo was taken inside the home, shooting through what was once a window, a barrel was the only color left behind,  besides the changing leaves from the fall air.

Brandy Day267: End or Beginning?!

image

They say all good things must come to an end. Is it an end or beginning? This trip was so fulfilling that its hard to see it as ending.
I met some awesome people, had amazing opportunities and again learned more about me that I didn’t know.
When life, paths or moments are handed to you like this its hard to see an ending!! I see future, opportunities & life ahead!!

Brandy Day250: It’s Like Riding A Bike

IMG_2628

Oddly enough the country roads are littered with bikers.  Seems the back roads are appealing to a lot of people.  It makes me so nervous traveling around bikers like this in packs or singly.  It’s even more dangerous once that sun begins to set, the hot roads give a deceiving reflection that is hard to see through.  A lot of people also take advantage of how obscure the country roads can be and fly down them at dangerous speeds, not only dangerous for them but others, animal & human alike.  If you like to take advantage of the back roads, windows down & music up,  just be safe and aware of darting people or animals.  I’ve seen cows jump fences ya know…and rumor has it they can jump over the moon!

*No I am not associated with anyone in this photo.  It’s just very dangerous*

Brandy Day249: U Turn

IMG_2097

The sign says it.  As of late I feel like I’ve hit a dead end.  Not in a bad way, not at all.  Dead ends simply mean it’s time to check out a new road.  I’ve been back and forth on the idea of returning to school to focus on a study that seems so obvious.  A study where I would get to tie my love of photography & animals into days of awesomeness.

You know it’s time to check out new places when you can no longer drive down a road, any road  and find something to shoot or something fun to occupy your time.  A change of scenery would be awesome for my camera and healing for my soul.  I’ll keep ya’ll posted, but you know, the pictures say it all!

Brandy Day234: Down This Road Before

image

I love this road. The secluded location of it is comforting. Its not a named road, rather a numbered road followed with a direction, east or west. It winds just as curvy as the creek its paved next to. An old private cemetery sits atop a hill with a single tree that watches the sun set on the back of the headstones.
