So tonight I got a sweet surprise from Hannah. A while back we had watched a video from Neil Gaiman (great author) who wanted to start something called All Hallow’s Read, which is where you give a person a scary book to read for Halloween. So we thought we would do this for each other and we went and bought scary books. Tonight we kind of got into an argument that I don’t ever remember was about. It was all over text and she sounded upset and told me to meet her at the Dogwalk, which is a haunted part of the campus. I walked there and she wasn’t there, which worried me, but then I saw a pumpkin sitting on the steps with this little owl and two books in it. Then she came over and surprised me. Most of the argument was completely made up so she could do this surprise. It was very cute and I absolutely loved what she got me.
Chandler beat me to it. In my defense I was waiting on him to send me the photos though. So I’m assuming he looked through them, chose his photo posted it & then sent them to me 😉
Growing up is hard. Like Chandler said we used to celebrate together. Then I got old, moved out, it was no longer ‘cool’ to have your birthday with your big sister.
It was a great surprise to be able to do this again. Thank you guys!
Today was another good day. I thought it was just going to be a normal day, but Hannah and my family planned otherwise. Hannah got me out of the house for a bit while my sister and step-mom decorated and Hannah’s family came out. Hannah stalled me by getting in an argument with me and when I got back to the house I was completely surprised to see everything done up and her family there. It was a great night spent with everyone and a lot of fun.
Recently I have been working at a flower shop, delivering their flowers for them. It’s a pretty fun job, getting to drive all over Indy, making people’s days. I like seeing them surprised and watching them smile as they get flowers. I get to help make their day better and make them happy. The picture above is a large order that I got to deliver very early this morning.
I’ve been wanting this book for a while. It’s Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I’ve been wanting this book for a while and I found a very pretty copy of it over the weekend when I went with Hannah to a book store. But I’m a little short on money and it was more than I wanted to pay for it. So I put it back and we kept looking. She bought a few books and then we went on with our day. Later that night as we were sitting by the fire, I noticed her holding this little red book. I asked what it was and she handed me the book, saying she had wanted to surprise me. It was Brave New World, the exact copy I had found earlier that day. Somehow she got it without me seeing it and was able to surprise me with it. It was such a small gift but it made me so happy. A simple gesture, but a very sweet one. And tonight, I opened it up and started to read it, a nice ending to a long day. And it’s nice because now I look at it and not only is it a pretty book, but it reminds me of her and it makes me smile.
Every girl wants to be treated like a princess. We want to be spoiled, treated like we are the only girl, like our smile is sunshine is his world. Girls like to get dolled up and go out with their girl friends, surprise their guy friends/boy friends.
I did that for the first time in a long, overdue time. It was a great evening, good food & drinks and a few smiles 😉
Ladies as independent as we are or want to be its OK to allow the men to spoil us once in awhile and it can be as simple as having a dish made differently, specially for you. Men, allow us to do the same. Allow us to pick up the check once in awhile, do small sweet things that make you smile when we aren’t around.
